Outrageous!

Is anyone as outraged as I am that for three days all anyone in the news seems able to talk about it that Sarah Palin's teenage daughter is pregnant? Is this not the most ridiculous thing you have ever seen? For the sake of public interest, I can understand that the media can and should mention it. It does make a difference, like it or not. The thing that apalls me is that Obama can hang out with terrorists and America haters on the weekends and NOBODY SAYS A D*** THING, and on the other hand, after delving as deep as they possibly can in the shortest amount of time into the personal life of Sarah Palin, they launch a brutal attack on her TEENAGE DAUGHTER. I am absolutely disgusted that the media would do something so despicable. I can only imagine the letters that will now be sent to the Palin home about her "slut" daughter, about how she failed as a mother and how she can expect to succeed as a leader of the country. I watched an interview between Katie Couric and a McCain campaign worker on CBS. Couric was asking the worker things like "Didn't the McCain campaign look into Sarah Palin's past before choosing her as running mate?" What kind of stupid question is that? The campaign worker responded with what should be the obvious answer: "Of course we looked into her past very carefully. We felt like this experience in the Palin family was a private matter and did not intend to advertise it. Now that it is a public issue, we feel that many Americans have been through this too and will be able to relate to the Palins. We do not feel that this should affect her ability to hold public office in any way." Well put. Thank you. I am so outraged by this I can barely contain myself. I wish I could just scream at all of those talking heads on TV "WHAT THE (bleep) IS WRONG WITH YOU???"

The bleep is the main stream media, they want Obama so bad it's oozing out their ears. And what's stupid is they ALL dance around the 'It's a private issue, family and kids are off limits', and then under that 'pretense' they discuss it to death. They do need to move on, she is 17, she's marrying the guy, she's keeping the baby, she's being WAY more responsible than kids getting pregnant older than her. THAT speaks volumes about her mom. I agree with what the campaign said, now it's a public issue, and (too many) parents with the same issue will relate better. The dirtiest dirt that they can find on her is all on her family, not really much on her.

Okay, I'll stop. Just don't blow up at too many liberals out there in fairy land.

People amaze me. I find the whole thing quite laughable. Beau made a good point that the Republicans really kind of led the way with the mud-slinging in this campaign, so we can't be too suprised that the liberal media would stoop to this. However, I think it's interesting that this is the worst they could dig up. I mean, HONESTLY. Palin's daughter found herself in a less-than-ideal situation and the family has made wholesome decisions in the face of adversity. What is there not to admire in that?

Breathe, Ryan.

I admire your passion, but I don't want you to kill anyone if your man doesn't make it to the Whitehouse.

This is a similar situation as the "Dick Cheney's daughter is a lesbian" debacle.

I do feel bad for the daughter and her boyfriend. What if they feel forced into marriage just because it could cause political upheaval and 20 years down the road their lives are totally messed up?

Its exactly the same! And when Al Gore's son was arrested on drug possession charges did the media say anything other than a little itty bitty headline in a back corner of a newspaper nobody even reads??? NO. Thad, its not an issue about who wins. Its an issue about what has become of the media. If Obama won in a fair fight, ok. I'd be upset, sure. But this is not a fair fight. The media has seen to that. I have a degree in communications, and I have taken classes and read textbooks on media and news reporting. I have had some interaction with people in the media, and I got out because it is not what it is supposed to be anymore. News agencies are supposed to report fair and balanced coverage of news as it happens without any personal bias and this is not happening. Look at the front of foxnews.com! It may not be up any more but they are running an article on US Weekly who showed Obama on the cover a few weeks ago with the title "Why He Loves His Wife", and this week, they have Palin on the cover with the headline "Babies, Lies, and Scandal" ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Obama can have as many terrorist friends as he wants. Is that news? Of course it is! Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant. Is that news? I ask you, IS THAT NEWS???
