Ok, back to form, no sissy chick flick reviews this time. Hellboy 2 ROCKED!!! I just want to say I loved this movie. Was it Lord of the Rings, Batman Begins, X-Men, or Kung-Fu Panda good? Not quite, but its up there pretty close. The action was non-stop, from Hellboy's first appearance (he's in a violent "disagreement" with his girlfriend), to the final explosive fight scene where Hellboy takes on the entire Golden Army with only one other dude to help him out. Guillermo Del Toro does an amazing job with the set, costumes, and wierd creatures that I don't think anyone else could have just imagined up. You look at some of these things and wonder what in the world could have inspired the imagery. Brilliant. Some of the action scenes are a little disturbing, but incredibly well scripted, none of the annoying chatter that is often passed back and forth between other comic book characters during a fight. In one scene, a guy opens up a box full of something (you don't know what) in a crowd of people, and announces that he is about to show them why humans used to be afraid of the dark, and it cuts, leaving what happens next to your imagination. For a while, anyway. I really liked that line, and several others throughout the movie I thought were just cool. But back to the disturbing stuff, I wouldn't take the kids unless you are confident they can handle some pretty intense action...
Anyway, I loved it. 4 and 1/2 out of 5!
