The Office is back! Just a few short years ago TV was so worthless. It still is mostly. 90% of the time is just a bunch of stupid soap operas, cheesy/immoral reality shows (regularly scheduled so-called "news programs" are included with these), and lame movies that people don't even waste their money renting anymore. In fact, I had pretty much sworn off watching TV altogether for a while except sports (still a sucker for football), and then one day I was introduced to a show called the Office, which was in its second season at the time. I resisted at first, because after all TV was such a waste of time and all shows were just dumb. Then I saw a clip of Jim sending Dwight faxes from himself from the future, and Dwight making a brilliant, diving maneuver across the office to save Stanley from the poisoned coffee. I was hooked. Tamara and I were engaged at the time, and we made a great decision together to purchase The Office Season 1 on DVD. The rest is history. Now we are best friends with Michael, Dwight, Jim, Pam, Andy, and the rest of the brilliant cast of The Office. Season 5 kicked off today with a hysterical hour-long season opener about a corporate weight loss competition between all of the branches. Michael and Dwight, of course, are die-hard about winning the competition and will do whatever it takes, including kidnapping Phyllis (who is a little resistant) and dropping her off 5 miles away from the office without her phone or money, forcing her to excercise and lose a little weight. Kelly, who is already stick-thin, goes on a maple syrup and lemon juice "cleansing" diet. Halfway through the episode she almost dies from it. The funniest moment came when Holly, the new HR lady, finds out that Kevin actually is not mentally retarded (Dwight lied to her in the finale last season that Kevin was "special", and Kevin was just "special" enough to play right into the role). Holly scolds Angela for calling him stupid because he is mentally handicapped, and Kevin is like, "Wait a minute, what?" and Angela says "Wow, that is such a horrible thing to say." Hilarious! One of the funniest moments ever! And the best moment comes at the very, very end, which I won't spoil for you if you haven't seen it. Watch it on the website. It kind of comes out of nowhere, keyword (if you've seen it) GAS STATION! Yay! I was happy after that scene. Very nicely done. If you don't watch The Office, start watching The Office. TV has been legitimized again.
