Democratic Convention

I just wasted an hour watching the first day of the Democratic Convention. Michelle Obama was the keynote speaker, and I guess the primary purpose of her speech was to show America that she is actually a nice lady. Sad. Well, she pulled it off. She seemed nice and actually became a real person to me. Her talk was about as deep as the whole Obama campaign though, and as the McCain camp puts it, the convention (in Denver) is "a mile high and an inch deep". There is nothing there. Mrs. Obama sure talked a lot about "change", but she sure didn't seem to have a clue about what needs to be changed. Same as any speech Obama has ever given, lots of words, but no meaning behind them. What do they think they are going to change? They talk and talk and talk about change, but they don't ever say what they intend to change! They want to give Americans more opportunity, they want to help the poor, they want to provide healthcare, they want to end the war, they say they want to do all this but they never explain one very important thing: HOW???? And if they ever do start into some kind of explanation, the response is so formulated, so "by the book", you begin to realize that the things he actually intends to try and do are no different from anything any other democrat in the past has tried and failed to do. So what exactly does he intend to change? After selecting one of the longest-running, engrained-in-the-system congressmen in our government as his running mate, he has completely contradicted his own socialist agenda. What is this guy really up to? In four years, what in our country will really be different? I have no doubt that "change" will occur, but I have every reason to believe that the change will not be for the good. I hope McCain chooses his VP wisely so that I have a campaign to believe in.

A campaign to belive in? Yea, they lost me a LONG time ago. McCain would probably make a better president than Obama, but that's really the best I have to say about him. Oh well! There's always 2012 huh?

Yeah it really is unfortunate how this happened. There were several Republican candidates I could have really gotten behind, and even a democrat or two who I would not have been too worried about, but Obama terrifies me and McCain just scares me. At best Obama will be a lame-duck president and not do anything, because if he actually delivers on his unrealistic promises the country will be far worse off than it is now. If McCain chooses a good VP, I will be able to support his administration, but I will be skeptical. And I doubt that he would run for re-election in four years. He'll be like 80 years old. I know the "mormon for Romney" thing is cliche, but I can't find anything not to love about that guy and I truly hope he becomes VP and is given a chance to be the next president (after the unavoidable failure that will be elected in November).
