New Coldplay CD: Viva la Vida
So you Coldplay fans out there probably know by now that one of my favorite bands, Coldplay, has just released a new album. This is my review.
It sucks. I'm sorry, but after 3 years of waiting for them to produce a follow-up to the very excellent X & Y album of 2005, I am very very disappointed with this collection of "songs". I am afraid Coldplay has given in to the popular European techno sound, rather than sticking to their vocal-driven, melodic rock sound that defined their last three albums. With the exception of one or two songs, the new CD is a lot louder and hardcore, not necessarily a bad thing, except the techno sound makes me nauseous. And, to make things even worse, Chris Martin doesn't even sing very much in it. Several of the songs are just mixtures of techno-noise and him making bizarre shouting noises that blend in with the crappy techno noise. His voice is what defines the band's sound, and he doesn't even use it on this CD. I was almost as disappointed with this CD as I was with X-Men 3, which was the biggest movie disappointment of my entire life. This may be the biggest music disappointment of my entire life so far.

Good to know... I was thinking about buying it. Maybe I'll want to hear it before deciding to spend money on it. Thanks.
Yeah try and listen to it first. There are a couple of good songs on it, but most of them are really wierd. Tamara and I listened to it a couple times trying really hard to like it, and finally we gave up.
No, I like it. But it doesn't have any of the elements that made me love Coldplay...they are trying a new style and I just loved their old one.
you kill me man. the cd isn't that bad either. but then again i kinda enjoy the techo stuff. it make me run harder and faster!
