I'm starting to like Fridays a lot. Working in a hotel the past few years made every day feel the same -- just as likely to work on Saturday or Sunday as any other day. Having a "real weekend" for the first time (seems like) ever is actually really nice. Friday is the day you have to get to every week.
Tonight we grilled some hamburgers. Without getting too cocky, I think I'm getting almost as good as my dad at the grill. Fridays we usually have hamburgers or steak or something fun, but today was even better with the grilled pineapple we've been perfecting... Man, its awesome. I think I ate a whole half of a pineapple tonight.
Funny story: I went to rent a movie by myself while Tamara was typing up some recipes. I was wearing my Batman t-shirt, which is all black except the yellow bat symbol on the front of it -- its awesome. So as soon as I walked into Hollywood Video, I began browsing through the movies, hearing in the background "batman! batman!" but didn't really pick it out from all the other noise I was hearing for a few seconds. When I realized someone was saying "batman" I began paying a little more attention to it and looked around. A little kid, 4 or 5 years old, was pulling on his mom with one hand and pointing at me with the other saying "look mom! batman!" Then it registered in my head that I was wearing a kid's dream come true across my chest. I hid behind a rack of movies for the mom's sake. But it was funny.

We rented a movie called "Definitely, Maybe". Crap, I feel like a sentimental fool. I loved it. Oh gosh, just look at that picture, it screams "sappy, sappy, sappy". And I won't lie, it is sappy, sappy, sappy, but wow, it was really really good too. Those of you that know me well know that I hate this genre (chick flicks). I find this kind of movie to be entirely predictable. Tamara hates watching them with me because I tell her what is going to happen next, even though I have never seen it, and 90% of the time I am right. Chick flicks have zero depth, turn good actors into bad actors, and are always disgustingly cliche. Definitely Maybe caught me by surprise. If you haven't seen it, go rent it. Don't watch it with the kids, there is some adult dialogue, but it is very tastefully made and very well acted. And if you, like me, get turned off almost to the point of turning off the movie when you find out that the main character is working on Bill Clinton's '92 campaign and start saying to yourself "this is just a clinton hype movie!", DON'T TURN IT OFF!!! They fix it later :) I really think you will like it, especially if you are my mom, Amberly, Chelsea, maybe my dad, or Gary W. Bethanie won't be so interested because it doesn't involve Christian Bale or outer space.

Thanks for the movie tip! I love your little Beth comment too. She cracks me up.
I'm with Ryan on this one. It's a suprising good movie! For an hour after watching it, Ryan kept on bringing it up and telling me the reasons why it was so good. I just wanted to go to sleep. When the chick flick critic acts like that about a chick flick, you know that it was good :)
Am I reading this right?
Did Tamara just designate an entire post to comic book movies, while Ryan gave a plug for a sappy chick flick?
How long have you kids been married?
Haha, I'm loving Em's post. :) But yeah, thanks for the movie tip, I haven't seen it yet. Definitely on my list of movies to see now!
Aw c'mon. I've got comic book movies on here too! I was just like "oh my gosh, I liked a chick flick!" this was a life-changing event and I had to tell everyone about it.
We just watched it tonight... and, dang it, I didn't like it! I was looking forward to a good chick flick too! I think the little girl's lack of acting talent just turned me off to the point that none of the good points about the movie could compensate. Beau thinks I just don't like movies you recommend, so we'll watch Kung Fu Panda and see if I like that one any better. :-)
